Drives: 2006 BMW E90 330d M-Sport. Join Date: May 2014. Location: Midlands, UK. iTrader: ( 0) I had a similar noise on mine, was proportional to engine RPM. In my case it was the alternator, more specifically the alternator bearing. Replaced the alternator and the noise is gone now.
I have a similar issue, also 330D E92 Auto although mine is Pre-LCI but has the 245 engine. Cold start is really lumpy unless you rev it a bit to get the engine going then its fine. Glow plug fault code logged (control), its been into BMW and had the glow plug and control unit swapped. Still no better. seems worse with the cold weather.

1) Torque converter locking up really quickly. 2) Kick down gear change is much faster. 3) the actual gear change is firmer and quicker and the pitch of the engine changes very quickly and the rev counter has to plat "catch up". 4) The delay from paddle operation to gear change is shorter.

My BMW e90 was running rough and had engine management light on so with Carly adapter I managed to read the codes which were 004B84, 003FF0, 0040E9, 004B82, 004B81.
