Caridina Shrimp Substrate. Blue Bolt Shrimp. Caridina Cantonensis Shrimp (Crystal Red Bee, King Kong, Black Pinto, Blue Bolt, etc.) are undoubtedly almost, if not as popular as Neocaridina Shrimp in the hobby. However, their needs are more specific, and their water parameters must be kept more precise (pH: ~6.0-6.9, GH: 3-5, KH: 0-2).
Water Conditions. Flower shrimp require a high oxygen level in their water. Ideal temperature range recommendation is 75° to 77° degrees F (24° to 25° degrees C), with moderate to medium-hard water. Keep the tank water clean, but remember that Flower shrimp are scavengers and need some waste and algae for food.
Heater: Ghost shrimp require a consistent water temperature of 72-82°F (22-28°C). An aquarium heater is crucial to maintain this ideal temperature. Lighting: While ghost shrimp do not require any particular type of lighting, having a light source for the tank is essential if you plan to include live plants.
Ideal Amano Shrimp Tank pH : about 7.1-7.2. Amano shrimp enjoy neutral to slightly alkaline water, which can be created by using water hardening substrates or filter media. But, Amano shrimp also do well in planted tank with slightly acidic water so do not feel like you need to harden your water if it is between 6.8-6.9. Water Hardness. kH: 2-5
LMO. Oct 12, 2017. #3. You can do a walstad tank but its harder to keep conditions stable in a smaller tank and these set-ups seem to work better in slighly larger tanks. If you want to do it without a filter, you need to provide a good layer of substrate (surface area for BB) and plently of plants. The plants will do better with a light - I'm
